How Artificial Intelligence Impact Human Connection?
How will artificial intelligence impact human connection?
I talk with Michelle Culver, who’s striving to build human connection in a world of AI by exploring our relationships with the emerging technology.
Michelle is a lifelong educator and founder of The Rithm Project, which is focused on catalyzing spaces and thought leadership across generations and sectors to think deeply about the ways AI will reshape relationships.
Michelle shares her perspectives on the types of AI-human relationships, how AI is currently impacting our schools/young people, how we schools might respond, cell phone bans, and much more.
Here’s my headlines from our conversation:
- Whether or not schools decide to explore AI, the impacts of AI will be felt on school communities
- AI technology is already creating some harmful use cases in schools, such as nudification applications targeted at female students
- We will need to redefine relationships with technology because of AI and it is okay if it doesn’t look the same as human-human relationships (i.e. a human might have relationships with an animal)
- The complexity and urgent need for boundaries around human-chatbot relationships is exacerbated by adjacent technologies like social media, and multimodal LLMs (video, audio, image)
Massive thank you to Michelle Culver for sharing her expertise.
